The F35 is at its very best when shooting to DFR data recorders as fully uncompressed image data. The OCDN (Original Camera Digital Negative) is this new approach to capturing a film frame albeit digitally.

We have been shooting this way for a few years now, with Vipers and F23 cameras and now with the new F35.

This for us continues a new way of capturing a digital image but retaining film craft and film personnel.

The new full frame digital cameras like the 5D, Mark II  III, D3 and D3X are pretty comparable to the dynamic range of a film camera- especially if youre shooting in RAW mode.

Congrats, Chris. I tied the knot this year as well.

Possibly but they aren't quite film ready for 24/25 frames per second recording. The MkII can be made to work but there are a heck of a lot of sacrifices to make that happen.

That will change I'm sure. If Nikon and Canon can step up to the plate with a rock solid OCDN digital film capture device then it would be interesting, as such they really are just enthusiasts toys, for now.
